Emergency Home School Fund
In Luton 46% of children live in poverty. Poverty means you can’t always afford things like food, clothing and learning resources. The Covid-19 crises has made this even harder for families. If you can’t afford food, clothing or learning resources to keep your 3- 18 year old learning and feeling good, then this fund is for you. We can support with anything up to the value of £30 per child for clothing and learning resources and £30 per family for food.
What you can apply for
- Everyone should be able to eat three good meals a day. It’s really hard to learn and concentrate if you are hungry or only eat chocolate. We can help by providing you with a grocery shop giving you food and essentials in the cupboard to keep you fuelled.
- Sometimes it’s hard to keep on top of the washing. If you only have a couple of sets of clothes, that can make it even harder. If you are 3 – 18 and need an extra item of clothing to ensure you have something to wear that you feel good in we can buy you something you like.
- Learning Resources. Learning is much easier if you have some resources to help. Perhaps it’s books, learning guides or art materials. Let us know what would help keep you learning and we can have it delivered to your door.
How to apply
Click here to be directed to our application form.
The form is at weareluton.org. We Are Luton are a collection of local youth and family focused organisations working together to ensure everyone can get help if they need it.
The form asks for your details so we know how to contact you and will help us know if there are any other things we or any of our partners can help with.
If you have a code for the fund, please enter it into the form. If not, don’t worry, someone will still be in touch to find out if we can help.
What happens after you have applied?
Once the form has been completed it will be sent via the We Are Luton platform to Level Trust. We will give you a call to find out if we think we can help.
If you have a code: you will be directly fast tracked to purchasing and will be asked for a list of what you need.
If you don’t have a code: we will need to ask you some questions about your circumstances and your financial situation. We know it’s difficult to talk about these things but we need to make sure that the fund is being used in the way advertised, so please bear with us as we do this. If we don’t think we can help you, we will do our best to direct you to someone who can.
Purchasing. If we can help, we will ask you to either send us an online link of what you want or ask you to give us a list over the phone.
Delivery. Depending on the purchase, the items will either be delivered via the online provider or by one of our volunteer team.
Follow up. Someone from Level Trust will be in touch with you again shortly after the arranged delivery date to ensure it has arrived and take your comments, complaints or compliments.
